What is FTL Golden Conures...I have been a breeder for approx. 20 years starting with Cockatiels, Greys and then the Queen of Bavaria!  I started with a 3 yr old couple in my kitchen enjoying their entics and learning their motivations.  I have learned many things down this road and now I want to share...FTL means 'For the love'...which is why we all do anything.

Are you interested in a Golden Conure?  Queen of Bavaria?  Let's talk:
Goldens are beautiful, personality plus, inquisitive , an absolute great package for a family pet.  These are birds that will be friendly to family, friends and guests (Most will).  Talking ability is amazing with these guys.  My good friend has her  Goldens saying sentences and actually lift their wings while they say "Kiss under the wing!"   This is all due to Judy's interaction.  The possibilities are endless with Golden Conures.  The world is your oyster.

Goldens are not your average parrot.  They demand time and interaction.  Sure, they will play on their own...love the playstand (see photos) and preen their siblings on it.  But sooner they will come off looking for you and some bonding time.  If you don't have time to interact and learn from these fantastic parrots, do not get one and expect them to be happy.  If you leave a Golden in their cage alone for a period of time, they will become dissatisfied and will misbehave and later stress.  Worst case would be plucking.  Attention and comradery is what these guys strive for!

History of Goldens..I'm sure you have seen other articles on their Cities listing and their plight in the wild.  Please check out World Parrot Trust on the most update information about Goldens in the wild at
http://www.parrots.org/index.php/ourwork/goldenconure/.  Needless to say, it is up to us as private aviculturists to keep the species around.

You are interested in Goldens as a pet?  What is your plan?  Do you know they can live beyond 30 years if given the right care?  The male Golden, Nim, pictured above is over 20 years old and going strong!  He started as a pet then later set up with a female...he remains in a breeding program.  I'm hoping you too will want to go beyond just a pet but help the species survival in captivity.  Life gives changes and there's going to be a time when you will be ready to move your Golden outside with a friend...give them a box and see the results!  It's up to you.
